September 2026 is packed with things to do throughout Fort Wayne and Northeast Indiana, including the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Festival, Grabill Country Fair, Johnny Appleseed Festival, Fort Wayne FC matches, Switchfoot at Sweetwater, Fort4Fitness, farmers markets, fall festivals, and more. Whether you’re looking for family activities, sports, live entertainment, outdoor events, or the first signs of fall, there are plenty of reasons to get out and enjoy the community this month.

Things to Do: September 2026 Fort Wayne Events & Festivals
September is one of my favorite times of year in Northeast Indiana. Summer isn’t quite over, fall is starting to show up, and the local calendar is packed with festivals, sports, concerts, outdoor activities, and family events. Whether you’re looking for something to do in Fort Wayne or want to make a short trip to one of the surrounding communities, there’s plenty happening throughout September 2026.
Here are some of the events worth putting on your calendar.
September Starts with a Busy Labor Day Weekend
The month gets underway with First Wednesdays in Downtown New Haven on September 2 from 4–8 PM.
Soccer fans also have several opportunities to catch Fort Wayne FC at Ruoff Mortgage Stadium, beginning September 2 against the Richmond Kickers and continuing with home matches against the New York Cosmos, One Knox SC, and FC Naples later in the month.
One of Northeast Indiana’s signature annual events also returns September 3–6 with the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Festival in Auburn. If you’re a classic-car enthusiast—or just appreciate the area’s automotive history—this one is always worth the drive.
September 4 brings several choices around Fort Wayne, including Ninja Kids Live at Foellinger Theatre, a Cider Tasting & Food Pairing at Salomon Farm Park, and a showing of Jumanji at Riverfront Film Nights in Promenade Park.
Festivals Take Center Stage
As September gets rolling, Northeast Indiana’s festival season remains in full swing.
The Grabill Country Fair takes over Downtown Grabill September 10–12. On September 12, you can also check out Brewed IN The Fort Craft Beer Festival at Headwaters Park, the Korea Festival Fort Wayne at Purdue Fort Wayne, or the Youth Market.
Then comes one of Fort Wayne’s best-known traditions.
The Johnny Appleseed Festival returns to Johnny Appleseed Park September 19–20. With its historical atmosphere, food, demonstrations, entertainment, and unmistakable smell of wood smoke in the air, the festival has become one of those annual events that signals fall has officially arrived in Fort Wayne.
The next day, September 20, the Monarch Festival takes place at Eagle Marsh Nature Preserve Barn from 11 AM–3 PM.
Music, Comedy & Outdoor Fun
September also offers plenty beyond traditional festivals.
Switchfoot performs at the Sweetwater Performance Pavilion on September 17, while comedian Ginger Billy comes to Summit City Comedy Club September 18–19.
If you’d rather get outside, Northeast Indiana Water Trails hosts Learn to Paddle at Fort Wayne Outfitters and Bike Depot on September 17.
And runners and walkers can look forward to Fort4Fitness at Parkview Field on September 26. On the same day, Downtown Grabill hosts the Road Apple Cruise-In.
Fall Arrives in Fort Wayne
By the end of September, the calendar starts looking decidedly more autumnal.
The Pumpkin Path Display at Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory opens September 29. Meanwhile, the Fall Festival at Kuehnert Dairy begins September 11 and continues on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays during the month.
Local farmers markets continue as well, including the Summit City Farmers Market at Union Street Market and the YLNI Summer Farmers Market at Barr and Berry Streets on Saturdays.
Get Out and Enjoy Northeast Indiana
One of the things I enjoy about living in Fort Wayne is just how much there is to do without traveling very far. September’s calendar is a good example. Within a few weeks, you can experience a nationally recognized automotive festival, professional soccer, concerts, comedy, farmers markets, one of Fort Wayne’s most recognizable festivals, and the first signs of fall.
So pick a few events, get out of the house, and enjoy September in Northeast Indiana.
