  • The first step to buying a home is getting pre-approved for your mortgage! Be prepared… make copies of items that the mortgage lender will need, such as:
    • Last 2 years W2s and tax returns
    • Last 30 days of pay stubs
    • Most recent 60 days bank statements
    • Copy of valid driver’s license (not expired)
    • Additional items will be requested depending on your financial situation
  • Provide any requested documentation by the lender as quickly as possible
  • Once you have applied for your mortgage pre-approval process, do not open any new credit, make any large purchases on credit cards, or have anyone pull your credit. It will create delays for your closing in the end. Federal guidelines require lenders to re-pull credit right up until the closing date.
  • Do not quit your job or change jobs during your home buying process. That will put an immediate stop in your home buying process.
  • Do not make any large deposits into your bank accounts that would not be able to be provided with a paper trail of where the funds came from. Federal guidelines require us to verify the source of large deposits.
  • Pre-Approval Letter – Once you have been pre-approved, the lender will issue you a pre-approval letter that can be submitted with your offer. This lets the seller know you are actually qualified and approved to buy their home!
