As we step into September, the Fort Wayne housing market continues to show signs of balance after several years of rapid growth.

Market Update

The Federal Reserve is expected to lower rates this fall, but the impact on mortgage rates may not be as immediate as many buyers and sellers hope. Mortgage markets often anticipate Fed moves, and rates have already drifted down from around 7% to 6.5% in recent months. That means the big drops may not come right away. If cuts continue later in the year, we could see more meaningful relief for homebuyers heading into 2026.

For sellers, this shift means pricing competitively is crucial. Buyers have more inventory to choose from, and they’re looking for well-maintained, fairly priced homes.
