60 Seconds On Purchasing a Home Part 6 – Calendar of Events

Today is part six in our ongoing series on purchasing a home. 

The day after we sign the contract, you’re going to do three things. First, you’re going to call your lender and formally apply for your loan. We’re also going to call the inspector to set up the inspection. Finally you’re going to call your insurance company and connect them with your lender. 

Approximately two weeks after the contract is signed, we should be completing the inspection and responding to the seller. This is where we ask them to complete any work that we want them to do on the home prior to close. 

Approximately 2 to 3 weeks in we’re going to have the appraisal. That’s where they go in and the lender will hire the appraiser to help set the value of the home to make sure that the price is in line with the value.

Approximately four weeks in we’re going to have our clear-to-close. The day before closing, we have your final walk-through. Closing day is going to be normally 30 to 35 days out.
